Mike Curtis is a seasoned aviation logistics and maintenance professional with over 18 years of experience in both military and civilian sectors. He currently serves as an Operations Research Systems Analyst (ORSA) at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in the Electronic Systems Laboratory, focusing on process improvement, aviation sustainment, logistics operations, and maintenance optimization for Department of Defense (DoD) airborne platforms.
Mike began his career in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting in 2008 as a supply Marine and advanced to the rank of Captain as an Aviation Maintenance Officer. Throughout his military tenure, he held various key positions, including Aircraft Maintenance Officer (SPMAGTF), Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer, Maintenance Material Control Officer, and as a Continuous Process Improvement Officer. In these roles, his work supported F/A-18, AV-8B, KC-130J, MV-22, UH-1N, AH-1W aircraft. He led numerous initiatives that significantly enhanced operational efficiency and aircraft readiness.
After transitioning from active duty in August 2020, Mike joined Northrop Grumman as a Principal Logistics Planner at the Manned Aircraft Design Center of Excellence.
In 2022 Mike was hired at GTRI, where he has led and contributed to several high-impact research and development projects aimed at improving logistics planning, sustainment strategies, and maintenance operations across the United States Air Force (USAF) and Space Force (USSF).
Mike holds a Bachelor of Science from Georgia Southern University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Supply Chain and Logistics from Northeastern University's D’Amore-McKim School of Business.
