Mr. Grabenstein became a DoN Senior Level (SL) in May 2021 when he was selected as Director of Maintenance for Naval Aviation for the Commander, Fleet Readiness Centers. In this positon, he oversees all maintenance planning activity, and supports naval aviation acquisition and in-service decision makers to optimize their maintenance programs for every Naval Aviation Enterprise aircraft, weapon and other systems delivered to Sailors and Marines.
Mr. Grabenstein has more than 29 years of combined military and civilian service. His civil service tenure with the Naval Air Systems Command began in March 2007 as an Air Traffic Control Deputy Assistant Program Manager for Logistics. In March 2012, Mr. Grabenstein was the Assistant Program Manager for Logistics for the MQ-4C Triton where he executed a $2.25B budget and was responsible for the development of all Product Support Packages for Triton’s initial Fielding. In January 2016, Mr. Grabenstein served as the Product Support Manager for the E-2/C-2 aircraft where he was a strategic advisor and was responsible for all acquisition logistics and sustainment activity and execution of $2.8B. Prior to his current position, he was the Assistant Program Executive Officer for Sustainment, Program Executive Office Air, Anti-Submarine Warfare, Assault, and Special Mission Programs beginning in January 2018, where he oversaw sustainment activity for 10 major acquisition program offices, with a combined budget of more than $50B.
Mr. Grabenstein earned his bachelor’s degree in aeronautical science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps and Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Level III certified in life-cycle logistics.
