Commander Lavinder assumes responsibility as the Business Operations Division Chief, at the Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) in Elizabeth City, NC beginning May 2023 after previously serving as the Operations Research and Data Analytics Branch Chief within the same division. There he is responsible for coordinating and managing production scheduling, logistics planning, data analytics, and business process improvement for ALC. A responsibility that spans five products lines of aviation assets and ground support equipment with an additional eight shared service divisions.
A native of Richmond, VA, CDR Lavinder graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 2006 with a BS in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and began his career as a Deck Watch Officer aboard the USCGC ELM (WLB-206). Transferring his ship handling skills to the sky, he was selected for Naval Flight Training in 2008 and graduated as a Naval Aviator in November 2009. His first aviation assignment was at Air Station Savannah, GA where he flew the MH-65C and later at Air Station Kodiak, AK where he led shipboard deployments throughout the Bering Sea becoming an Instructor Pilot, Flight Examiner and earning a FAA Airline Transport Pilot Rating.
