With over 36 years in the aviation industry, Dave Marcontell is the Vice President – Technical Operations for JetBlue Airways. He began his career with the U.S. Air Force as a C-130 maintenance and engineering officer before joining Delta Air Lines, where he held various engineering and procurement positions.
Dave then held engineering and operational roles at ABX Air, Boeing, and North-South Airways, before transitioning to Oliver Wyman CAVOK and later as an expert associate partner at McKinsey & Company, with a focus on airline operations, OEM aftermarket, as well as airline and independent maintenance, repair, and overhaul services. During his two decades aviation advisory experience, he led over 200 engagements globally, including the first accelerated 180-minute ETOPS application for Hawaiian Airlines and passenger operations for Atlas Air as well as the start-up of several Part 121 and Part 135 airlines.
In addition to holding an airframe and powerplant license, private pilot’s license, and being a former FAA designated engineering representative, Dave holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in engineering management from Mercer University. He has previously been honored with the Nuts and Bolts award by Airlines for America for his distinguished career in maintenance and engineering.
