Greg Emerson is Vice President of Base Maintenance, where he oversees American's global Base Maintenance operation, including the Tulsa Aircraft Overhaul organization, the Component Repair and Overhaul business unit, the American Engine Repair and Overhaul team and Maintenance Repair and Overhaul suppliers.
Previously, he served as a partner at SeaTec, an aviation consulting firm, where his focus was on operational strategy, continuous improvement and large-scale systems implementations.
Greg began his aviation career as an aviation maintenance technician (AMT) in the U.S. Navy. After completing his service in the Navy, he joined Delta Airlines in 1990 to begin his civil career as an AMT. Greg took on increasing levels of responsibility in his 17 years at Delta, ultimately serving as the General Manager of Atlanta Base Maintenance. In addition to his time at Delta, Greg held senior leadership roles in business aviation, rotorcraft operations and in maintenance, repair and operation management.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in aeronautics, a Bachelor of Science in aerospace and occupational safety, and a Bachelor of Science in aviation business administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Greg also holds a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington. Greg serves on the board of directors of the Aviation Technician Education Council, a trade association that promotes and supports aviation maintenance technician education.
