Mark Wibben has served as Vice President of Engineering and Programs at Southwest Airlines since February, 2019. In this role, he is responsible for the configuration and maintenance program of Southwest’s fleet of Aircraft and Engines, with the objective of safely operating the fleet at the required reliability and lowest possible cost. Mark joined Southwest in March, 2012, and since that time he has also served as Director of Powerplant Programs and Senior Director of Engineering.
Mark started his career in aviation as power plant engineer at Northwest Airlines. Over the course of his 20 years in the industry, he has also served roles as performance and operability engineer at Pratt & Whitney, and power plant engineering manager at Northwest Airlines and Delta Technical Operations. He has a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Minnesota, and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy N.Y.
Mark and his wife, Elly, live in Dallas with their two children, Violet (11) and Peter (8).
