David Marcontell is a distinguished executive with over 30 years of deep industry experience focusing on aircraft technical operations, commercial aircraft aftermarket, and airline operations. His work has included air carrier and MRO startup and regulatory certification, OEM and MRO product and aftermarket strategy development, operational and supply chain transformation, and continuing airworthiness and reliability improvement.

Most recently, David was the founding Chief Operating officer of Waltzing Matilda Aviation, a Part 135 corporate jet operator and new start Part 121 airline (Connect Airlines) operating Dash 8-400 aircraft. Before that, David had a 20+ year career in the aviation consulting industry to include Managing Partner and Global Head of Oliver Wyman CAVOK, the commercial aviation industry’s largest technical consulting and services firm, and President of TeamSAI, a boutique MRO consultancy which was purchased by Oliver Wyman in 2015. David began his aviation career with the US Air Force as a maintenance and engineering officer before moving to Delta Air Lines, Boeing and later ABX Air, ultimately becoming a Chief Engineer, Fleet Manager and Purchasing Director.
David received his Master’s degree in Engineering from Mercer University with a concentration in operations research and his Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia. He is a certified LEAN Master Black Belt, an FAA licensed pilot, A&P mechanic and former FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER). In 2018, David was recognized by Airlines For America (A4A) as its Nuts and Bolts Award winner for a distinguished career in commercial aircraft maintenance and engineering.
