Gary has been VP of Technical Operations at Avelo since September 2020. Prior to Avelo, Gary spent over three years at Delta Air Lines as Managing Director of Engineering and Quality Assurance where he was responsible for the airline’s Engineering, Quality Assurance, Reliability, and Maintenance Program activity. With over 30 years of commercial aviation experience, Gary started his career at Eastern Airlines as a Structures Engineer and then transitioned to American Airlines as a Lead Systems Engineer. After his time at American, Gary moved to America West where he had responsibility for Aircraft and Powerplant Engineering followed by Base Maintenance. In addition to broad airline experience, Gary brings 12 years of OEM experience at both Honeywell Aerospace and Bombardier Aerospace. During his time at both, he worked in operations, product support, sales and marketing, and program management.
Gary has a Bachelor degree in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Arizona State University. He also holds an Airframe and Powerplant certificate, is certified in Project Management, and is a Six Sigma Green Belt.
