Profile:Mr. McLendon has served as a senior engineer, Director of Interagency Programs and Associated Director, Software Solutions Division for the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. He leads efforts to provide technical assistance to clients in the acquisition and life cycle support of software-dominant systems in federal and state agencies, the intelligence community, and defense agencies including OSD. Since 2010, he has been deeply engaged with OSD to address the increasing software sustainment challenge. Mr. McLendon is also a former Federal Senior Executive. Prior to assuming his current position, he served as Senior Advisor in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Systems Engineering. Earlier he served as a principal in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Program Analysis & Evaluation and in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. He was also Professor at the Defense Systems Management College and served as a career Air Force officer in a range of leadership and management positions with extensive U.S. and international experience in systems development and acquisition. He has also worked extensively outside of DoD in the public and private sectors where he has been engaged in a range of technology acquisition and modernization programs.
