Profile:

Retired Rear Adm. Tim Matthews has more than 20 years planning and executing logistics and sustainment for naval aviation. Currently in charge of sustainment operations for the F35 at Lockheed Martin, Matthews was previously the Director of the Fleet Readiness Division for the U.S. Navy.

The Fleet Readiness Division is responsible for Planning and Programming, a $23 billion annual budget in support of operating and maintaining the Navy’s ships, aircraft, submarines, and expeditionary forces. The division also resources Training Ranges and the Readiness Reporting systems.

Matthews was designated an aeronautical maintenance duty officer in 1983. He attended the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, Calif., where he received his master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering in1995.

Selected for command of the Naval Air Depot Jacksonville in 2004, he reported as executive officer in 2005 and assumed command of the newly re-named Fleet Readiness Center Southeast in 2007. In August 2009, he reported as commander, Fleet Readiness Centers and NAVAIR Assistant Commander for Logistics and Industrial Operations. In August 2011, he assumed his duties as director, Fleet Readiness Division.
