Aging Aircraft - The Readiness Conundrum
- Tuesday, 04/09/2019: 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM
- Session Number:
207
Description:
The average age of US Air Force aircraft has spiked to 27 years this decade. The increasing age of the Air Force fleet has a direct impact on readiness and mission-capable rates. Examples include about half of all B-1s and B-2s being grounded at any given time. Readiness declines also impact the F-15D, F-16C and D and F-35 fighters to mention just a few. Not only does the aging fleet affect mission capability but it also increases the demand for maintenance. This session will explore solutions to improve readiness and mission capability.
